p1010017The McClellanville and Awendaw area is a special place. Surrounded by the Francis Marion National Forest and the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge, the area is buffered from over-development and sprawl, while the tremendous recreational opportunities are preserved. From the Cape Romain beaches accessible by boat, to the campgrounds on the Santee River, the beauty of nature abounds. A number of public boat ramps in the area provide access to the creeks and waterways of the Refuge where shrimp and fish are plentiful. The National Forest contains hiking trails, canoe and kayak launches on the river, and motorized vehicle trails as well as opportunities for hunting deer, turkey, duck, dove and more.beach

The quiet slow pace of life doesn’t mean isolation. McClellanville is centrally located on the coast of South Carolina between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. The East Cooper Hospital, shopping, dining and conveniences of Mount Pleasant are less than 30 miles away from McClellanville to the south and the historic City of Georgetown is just 25 miles to the north.
