Rutledge Family Helps to Further Preserve Hampton
The Rutledge family, descendants of South Carolina Poet laureate Archibald Rutledge, have placed 1200 acres of land adjacent to Hampton Plantation State Park into a conservation easement. This generous gift will help preserve the land surrounding to the park as well as protect the adjacent Francis Marion National Park.
The Post and Courier has written an article about the family’s gift,
“More than 1,200 acres in the heart of Francis Marion National Forest will be protected from development after the descendants of outdoor writer Archibald Rutledge granted a conservation easement to The Nature Conservancy.” Click here for the full story.
